Summary of Research: This qualitative study explores the relationship between women artists and the natural environment. Thirteen participants were interviewed regarding the influence of nature on their creativity. This dynamic was communicated through the participant's stories about their creative process and relationship with nature as well as through the intuition and felt sense of the researcher regarding their creative work. Creativity was used by the researcher as a tool to attune to the contents of the interviews. The participant's displayed a relationship with nature that was enhanced by their creativity. Spiritual awareness and transpersonal experiences were directly linked to their experiences in the natural environment. The creative act enhanced these experiences and was attributable to their respect for nature and need to care for the Earth. The study has implications for the field of women’s studies, transpersonal psychology, and ecopsychology.
